This is a three-hour course to explore the story of our bodies and the dramaturgy of our dances through movement, improvisation and somatic exercises. We will work solo, or in pairs and trios, to expand our movement vocabulary and articulate the stories we are telling. Switching between observing and being observed creates a collective body from our individual biographies.
This workshop is free of charge.

Balance
A performance for Sari Mostafa
A man in his forties and a woman in her twenties meet up to rehearse a script, each from their unique position. While practicing their roles and responsibilities, reality becomes blurred by fiction.
Through their relationship, we confront recurring questions, reconsidering ideas and beliefs, the concept of "order" and "power", and their influence on us and our surroundings: family, neighborhood, city, and state.
Beryte Theater, USJ
Doors open at 7
Show starts at 8

The Time Is Here
A theater and music performance in a cinema
By Hashem Adnan in collaboration with Heroshinema and Trans-parent
An attempt to return to sorcery, a spell calling for an encounter - an encounter that desires to happen, to begin, to end, and to be. An impossible encounter between us and a suicide bomber; if it were to occur, it would be magical. An attempt for a spiritual bond with those who departed while trying to end us, and end with us.
At Cinema Royal; Burj Hamoud
Doors open at 7 pm
The show starts at 8 pm

A collapsing performance of a collapsing performance
A lexicon of select terms that have shifted meaning since Lebanon’s economic collapse. A Collapsing Lexicon interrogates the political character of words and images by exploring language’s entanglement with Lebanon’s economic collapse. We crowdsourced a number of terms that have shifted, reversed, or acquired new meanings since the economic crisis began making itself felt in 2019, and invited contributors to react to them. The result is this publication - available both online and in print - as well as a series of performances and debates in venues across the country. All together, they provide a small snapshot of this time in Lebanese history, where an economic collapse has extended to the collapse of meaning itself

Letter To Yalda
On the urgency to move. A tribute to Human 1.0
Ranging from performance to visual arts, Kaddissi’s practice is a study on the Altered Human and its proposed perfectness. In 2006, she founded PACE (Project on Artistic Collaboration and Experimentation), a project dedicated to creative independence, where she has developed a methodology that bridges sensorial exploration and creative labor through collective thinking, practice, and encounters across disciplines. Her work with PACE, has been implemented in academic and cultural institutions, in addition to mentoring artists across disciplines. Currently, Kaddissi is teaching Performance and Visual Arts at ALBA (Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts - Beirut). In parallel, she is part of a research lab with Souraya Baghdadi, exploring Sensible Embodiment and the Oriental Body Movement.

Full of Tomatoes
“Fatayer bi Banadoura”
I have been working for a while now on a series of culinary performances to shed light on forgotten or unknown rural dishes. For the second dish of this series, I chose a pastry exclusive to my mother’s village Beit Chabeb. It’s Fatayer bi Banadoura – Tomato pastries.
After going through the recipe with some of the women of my village, holding long discussions and also researching the history of tomatoes, the performance will walk us into the road of love, toxicity, and death.
Lentil with Fennel
In early 2022 I was introduced to a dish, Adas bi Shoumar (lentil with fennel) coming from Khyeim my grandmother ‘s village. The dish is very simple and popular in the region yet unknown from many. Interested in its story I started talking to my uncle about it who passionately shared the recipe and his accompanying memories about it. I then felt the desire to share the recipe and the story on stage trying to revive a dish and the culture behind it. After this performance I had the idea on working on a series of culinary performance around forgotten dishes and stories.
It's the story of a dish, a region, a family and therefore a community shared over a meal.
Baladi Dance Technique
The workshop will invite you to immerse in Baladi Dance technique, discover new ways of moving and liberating our bodies furthermore. All levels!
Aalehom
Second performance of The Season (edition zero)
Aalehom by Alexandre Paulikevitch
“Aalehom عليهُم" is a solo dance performance that tells a story of loss, pain, physical abuse, and revolt.
It is about overcoming obstacles and shedding victimhood. Creating this performance has been a catalyst for life, a motive that kept me resilient in the face of the current political and socio-economic crisis hitting Lebanon. “Aalehom” is a largely intimate work. It represents an urgent and critical vessel for me to express a chain of painful and deeply moving experiences that I’ve lived in the past months, from losing my father to being detained by the police, to then ending an extremely toxic romantic relationship and finally surviving the horrifying explosion of Beirut port on the 4th of August. “Aalehom” was born under layers of stress and melancholy which brought me close to burnout and surrender. This is exactly why it morphed into a journey of salvation, demonstrating once again the urgency of art creation and proving it to be a life necessity.
Me... The Idiot
The opening show of the season edition zero is “I… the Idiot” by Sari Mustafa on the 17, 18, and 19 of October 2022 at Mansion in Zoukak el Blat. You are invited to tour a world centered on idiocy, a multimedia experience that includes music, video, live performances, as well as literary writings, and artistic exhibitions.
Thursday Gatherings
After pitching the idea of the cooperative to 50-70 artists,
we began organizing every Thursday evening a gathering for those who showed interest in the project to meet, talk, and hang out. Some of the gatherings included improvised acts, dance performances, readings, and music!
